Actually, the UCI WorldTour wanted to start the season as in recent years in January in Australia. But for the second time in a row, nothing will be: both the tour down under and also the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race were canceled because of the Corona Pandemic.
Thus, the curtain will fall in February: From 20 to 26 February, the UAE tour takes place on the Gulf. Early, Europe is also in the series again: For February 26, the semi-classic Omloop Het Nieuwsblad was terminated. The race in Belgium is the prelude to the spring classics, whose season will take until the end of April. Paris-Roubaix, held last year in autumn, is scheduled again for mid-April.
With the Tour de Romandie (26 April to 1 May), the first preparatory race is on the Giro d’Italia, which stands on the program from 6 to 29 May. June belongs to the two tour hardtesses Dauphiné (5 to 12 June) and Tour de Suisse (12 to 19 June).
On July 1, the Tour France starts, on the 24th of July the winner is crowned in Paris. The France tour begins like the Vuelta (19 August to 11th September) on a Friday, as the starts take place abroad: The tour should begin in Denmark, the Vuelta in the Netherlands. With the Lombardy tour in Italy as well as the Tour of Guangxi in China, the WorldTour, which with Eschborn-Frankfurt (May 1) and the Cyclassics in Hamburg (21 August), is also rounded back to two German events.
