After the separation from Marco Rose, Edin Terzic at Borussia Dortmund is currently the hottest candidate to the coaching office. But the alleged Rose successor is said to have aroused interest elsewhere.
As the “Bild” writes, the offers at the former interim coach have literally “stacked”. Several clubs from the Bundesliga and abroad should be interested in signing the 39-year-old as the new head coach.
In the past few months, there have been media reports that Hertha BSC and VfL Wolfsburg Terzic, among others, have had an eye on as possible coaching candidates. Both clubs are currently still looking for trainers for the new season.
The “picture” further speculates that the interest of other clubs could even be responsible for the surprising separation of Rose. In order to precede a possible Terzic exit to the competition, the BVB may have decided to say goodbye to the old trainer.
This thesis could certainly get tailwind if Terzic should be confirmed as the new coach of the Westphalia in the coming days. Because of his past in the club, the good experience from last season and his close connection to the top of the club, he is considered a logical successor to the shot rose.
BVB separates from Marco Rose after season analysis
Terzic took over BVB in the 2020/21 season in December after Lucien Favre was released. With a strong point cut of two points per game, he leads the Westphalia from fifth place to the Champions League. On top of that, the Mendener native won the DFB Cup with the Borussia.
After the season, he had made room for Rose last summer and had returned to the second link. However, BVB played a very inconsistent season under the former Gladbacher. Second place in the Bundesliga faced the early end in Champions League and DFB Cup.
On Friday, the participants pulled the ripcord after a comprehensive season analysis. According to media reports, Managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke is said to have been the driving force behind the separation. Rose himself is also said to have expressed doubts about the meaningfulness of further cooperation at the end of the conversations.
